India Doc Fest

India Doc Fest is the flagship festival of the India Doc Project - a platform committed to building a vibrant, youth-driven documentary ecosystem in India. As one of the few festivals in the country dedicated exclusively to documentary storytelling, the fest creates a much-needed space for non-fiction cinema to be celebrated on its own terms.

Through screenings, panels, performances, and community gatherings, the festival creates space for documentary makers to share their work, exchange ideas, and find the audiences they deserve.

Edition 1: Listening & Reckoning

Our debut edition centred on listening deeply - to filmmakers, to lived realities and to the shifting political and cultural landscape. And on reckoning - with what these films reveal about our times, our histories and our responsibilities as viewers and citizens.

This theme guided our programming, our guests and the conversations that unfolded across the festival.

On 26th and 27th October 2025, we screened 16 acclaimed Indian and international docs at the Siyah Arthouse and Jawahar Bhawan in New Delhi.

Opening Night Chronicles
Music, Docs & more..

India Doc Fest kicked off with a night powered by Disco, our resident party mascot and unofficial patron saint of good vibes. We screened two music docs and followed it up with a panel discussion on identity and language, ending it on a high note with musical performances. The evening set the tone for the festival - part celebration, part gathering, part gentle chaos - with music, films and conversations spilling into each other.

26th October, Siyah Arthouse

Disco welcomed everyone into the festival’s world of “Listening & Reckoning,” reminding us that even in serious moments, community and joy deserve their space. With performances, films, and a crowd ready to light up the weekend, Opening Night became the perfect blend of culture and party - just the way Disco likes it.

Main screenings

27th October, Jawahar Bhawan

Our main screenings brought together a curated line-up of several critically acclaimed short and feature length documentaries from around the world. We invited filmmakers, hosted a panel discussion and indulged in a whole day of incredible documentary cinema!
